Cancer

A cancer diagnosis turns your world upside down. Am I going to die? How do I tell my family and friends? What about my boss and my coworkers? Will people see and treat me differently? How will I continue to support my family? What surgeries and treatments should I choose? I feel so alone and overwhelmed. Why is this happening to me? I’m the one who usually takes care of everyone else…how do I ask for and receive help with grace? You will likely feel anger, sadness, fear, hopelessness, despair, hope, and everything in between. I am a breast cancer survivor and have personally experienced these feelings and questions. I find it meaningful to work with clients who are on a cancer journey because therapy helped me immensely during my own cancer experience. I also work with caregivers and family members to help them to find ways to cope with their complex emotions while remembering to practice self care.
